İki pasaj gelir, her birinde beş boşluk vardır. Boşluklar kelime, edat, bağlaç, zaman ve ilgi zamiri sorularının karışımıdır; yani dilbilgisi ve kelime bilgisini metin içinde kullanman istenir.

Adım adım çözüm

  3. İlgi zamiri boşluğunda boşluktan sonrasına bak: arkasından fiil geliyorsa which / who, tam cümle geliyorsa where / when / edat + which.
  4. Cevapları yerleştirip pasajı bir kez daha oku.

Örnek soru 1

Mars has long fascinated scientists because it is the planet in our solar system most similar to Earth. Although its surface is now cold and dry, there is strong evidence that liquid water once flowed across it. Images taken by orbiting spacecraft show dried-up river valleys and lake beds, and rovers on the surface (1) ---- minerals that form only in the presence of water. Scientists believe that billions of years ago Mars had a thicker atmosphere, which kept the planet warm enough for water to remain liquid. Over time, (2) ---- , much of this atmosphere was lost to space, partly because Mars lacks a strong magnetic field to protect it (3) ---- the solar wind. The key question now is whether simple forms of life ever developed on the planet (4) ---- conditions were more favourable. Future missions plan to collect rock samples and return them to Earth, (5) ---- scientists will be able to analyse them with far more sophisticated instruments than any rover can carry.

İşaretli (5) numaralı boşluğa hangisi gelmelidir?

  1. A) which
  2. B) that
  3. C) whom
  4. D) where
  5. E) whose
Cevabı ve çözümü göster

Doğru cevap: D) where

Boşluk "Earth" ismine yer anlamıyla bağlanır ve arkasından eksiksiz bir cümle gelir (scientists will be able to analyse them): where. "Which" ve "that" arkasından eksik öğeli cümle ister; "whom" insanlar içindir; "whose" arkasından isim ister.

For decades, psychologists assumed that memory works much like a video recorder, storing events exactly as they happened. Research over the past forty years, however, (1) ---- that this view is misleading. Each time we recall an event, the brain actively reconstructs it, filling in gaps (2) ---- general knowledge and expectations. As a result, memories can change over time, and people may become completely convinced of details that never actually occurred. In one well-known series of experiments, participants who watched a film of a car accident were later asked how fast the cars were going when they "smashed" into each other. Those who heard the word "smashed" gave higher estimates of speed (3) ---- those who heard the more neutral word "hit", and many of them even reported seeing broken glass that was not in the film. Such findings have had important (4) ---- for the legal system, (5) ---- eyewitness testimony has traditionally been regarded as one of the most reliable forms of evidence in criminal trials.

İşaretli (1) numaralı boşluğa hangisi gelmelidir?

  1. A) has shown
  2. B) was showing
  3. C) shows
  4. D) will have shown
  5. E) had been shown
Cevabı ve çözümü göster

Doğru cevap: A) has shown

"over the past forty years" bugüne uzanan bir süreyi anlatır ve özne (research) eylemi yapar: has shown. "Was showing" ve "shows" süre ifadesiyle uyumsuzdur; "had been shown" edilgendir ve geçmişteki başka bir ana göre kurulur; "will have shown" gelecekle ilgilidir.

İpucu: "over the past forty years" → present perfect. Araştırma gösteren taraf → etken.

Strateji: Cloze'da zaman sorularında süre ifadesi (over the past …, since …) genellikle boşlukla aynı cümlededir; önce onu bul.

Sık sorulan sorular

Cloze testte önce pasajın tamamını okumalı mıyım?

Evet. Pasajı bir kez hızlıca okuyup konuyu ve kullanılan zamanı belirlemek, boşlukları çok daha hızlı çözmeni sağlar.

Cloze testte hangi konular sorulur?

Bağlaçlar ve geçiş ifadeleri (however, therefore, whereas), edatlar, fiil zamanları, ilgi zamirleri (which, where, whose) ve bağlama uygun kelimeler.

Cloze test için ne kadar süre ayırmalıyım?

On soru için yaklaşık 12-15 dakika yeterlidir. Takıldığın boşluğu işaretleyip pasajın sonuna kadar devam etmek, sonraki boşlukların ipucu vermesini sağlar.
